Full Description: The Gardens
The Gardens were established in 1970.
SIR JOSEPH BANKS PLANT HOUSE
Features plants from the wet tropics, deserts and temperate regions. Surrounding gardens include plants from temperate and subtropical region.
ROSE GARDEN
With over 100 rose varieties and an equatorial sundial.
WOODLAND GARDEN
A range of cool climate plants from around the world.
AZALEA BANK
Shows collection of azalea hybrids making a colourful display in spring.
FLOWERING TREES AND SHRUBS
With displays of interest throughout the year.
SUCCULENT PLANTS
Plants from Africa and America.
DRYLAND PLANTS
These plants are from arid and semi arid areas of Australia.
AUSTRALIAN OPEN FORESTS AND GRASSLAND
Both dry sclerophyll and wet sclerophyll forests.
ILLAWARRA RAINFOREST
Illawarra’s varied rainforest communities.
SUBTROPICAL RAINFOREST
Displays plants from subtropical rainforest areas of NSW and QLD.
DRY RAINFOREST
Features rainforest communities that have adapted to dry conditions.
EXOTIC RAINFOREST
An array of plants from rainforest communities around the world.
ANNEXES
A number of natural areas throughout Wollongong are managed by the Botanic Garden due to their environmental significance.
These include Puckeys Estate; Fairy Meadow; Mt Keira Summit Park; and Korrongulla Wetlands, Primbee.

Info: The Wollongong Botanic Garden is host to an impressive array of exotic, adaptable and flowering plant life from Australia, and around the world.
The gardens open weekdays 7.00am to 5.00pm and weekends 10.00am to 5.00pm (non daylight saving). Weekdays 7.00am to 5.00pm and weekends 10.00am to 6.45pm (daylight saving).
The gardens are easy to locate by using the F6 Freeway - Keiraville exit and following the Botanic Garden signs.
